Cranbrook - A GREAT place to live.

Located in the southeast corner of Beautiful British Columbia Canada, the City of Cranbrook is in the heart of the East Kootenay. Only 45 miles from the US/Canada border, the City has immediate access to western US, Alberta and British Columbia centres.

Breathtaking scenery and beautiful, well-designed residential areas and parks abound in our fair city. Nestled between the Purcell Mountains to the west and the Rocky Mountains to the north and east Cranbrook enjoys mild winters and more sunshine hours than any other BC city.

The history of Cranbrook ties back to the 1898 when Cranbrook was named a division point for the Canadian Pacific Railway's new Crowsnet Railway. Today Cranbrook is the regional centre of the East Kootenay. With a population of almost 19,000 people, serving an area of over 60,000, Cranbrook has become a favoured spot to work, play, retire or raise a family.

A wide range of recreational pursuits, educational opportunities for young and old, and a growing arts and heritage sector, provide Cranbrook with a "balance" seldom found in cities of this size. These choices make just about anyone feel at home.
